The Pawtucket Police just shot another Black man because he had a toy gun. In 2016, they shot a Black man because he had a BB gun. Surely, they should have trained the Pawtucket cops to tell the difference between a real gun and a toy gun.

There have been attacks against Democrats and Republicans, but at the center of this increase in political violence is the first President in our lifetime who regularly legitimizes violence as part of our politics. That's what's different about this moment and we should say it.

The President does not have the authority to make this decision. There is no imminent threat to America from Iran. He cannot take this action without congressional authorization. I will not vote to give him that authority, and I likely represent the majority of Congress.
