We have been advocating for a NAFLD name change for years. Telling us what liver disease is not, is not helpful. That is like me saying nice to meet you. My name is NOT Donald J. Trump. We suggested a new name in a publication PMID: 30507644.

PMID: 30507644 was initially written to answer a call for NAFLD name change by AASLD and submitted it as a 500 word editorial to HEPATOLOGY Journal. It was rejected by Rohit Loomba. Probably rightfully so. It is difficult to say how inadequate NAFLD name is in 500 words.

It’s nice to have long-term goals. Working on them tirelessly and making a small, persistent, positive change is what counts. The end goal is not so important. That’s why I admire people with crazy dreams.
