The Harry Pell and #GTFC love story continues with his red card, which leaves Town in a very strong position now at the break against Cheltenham. Two absolute beauties from Jamie Walker have flipped the game on its head. The Scotsman showing his class.

As emphatic as it gets for #GTFC with DA believing his team were heading for a big win, with or without the red cards. Great chance to get Jason and others back in the fold as well. Squad looking really strong now.

Beautiful from Vernam - the feints to get the defender off balance and then wrong foots the goalkeeper with his shot. Great to see him fit and firing again for Town. It’s been a long time coming. #GTFC

Can’t have any complaints with that going away to a good team in Salford. Took their chances in the first half, then looked solid at the back after the break when the hosts pushed further forward. Onwards! #GTFC

Bit of a scrappy first half, with two set-pieces providing the goals. Card-happy referee perhaps not helping the flow of the game! #GTFC

Not sure whether it was a red, but it leaves #GTFC with a great opportunity now against 10-man Gillingham… Some good build up play, but the final ball hasn’t quite been there so far.

#GTFC made it unnecessarily difficult for themselves towards the end, given they were against nine, but a win is a win. They've retaken third place in League Two from Gillingham by beating them, so there can't be too many complaints!

Crewe deserved winners. Consistency lacking at this moment in time… Certainly a very open league again this year, but putting performances and results together is the next challenge. #GTFC

Think how frustrating this is for Tom - he’s waited so long to get on with his career so anyone suggesting he was looking for an easy way out are out of their minds… Gane started well and it was shaping up to be a great fight. Hugely disappointing. #UFC321

I'm seeing it everywhere... 'Tom quit!" Absolute hogwash. It couldn't be more clear, he got poked in BOTH eyes. That was straight out of the Three Stooges. I think most people agree he lost that first round, but to suggest he quit or looked for a way out is absurd.

“Having experienced what they have experienced so far, they have to have some sort of confidence and belief, knowing there is not really any pressure on them again.” 💭 Sam Allen with the lowdown on Grimsby ahead of tonight 🏆 #GTFC #BrentfordFC brentfordfc.com/en/news/articl…

Not seen much of Lavelle but looked solid in his first league start - can’t complain with the rest of the selection! Can’t see Brentford starting as slowly as United did, but Town will probably try to approach the start the same. #GTFC

Sam Allen (@sam_allen567) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Doesn’t feel like Brentford have created loads of chances, but they have been devastating whenever the goal has opened up for them. Mistake at the back for the opener halted what felt like another promising start for #GTFC.

Sam Allen (@sam_allen567) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Valiant effort from #GTFC, but Premier League quality won out in the end… Brentford pounced on errors in the first half and were ruthless to take the game out of sight. Some memorable games in this Carabao Cup side job that Town can reflect on with pride.
