After 42 days and 15,000 + miles driven, #ICECHIP completed 24 IOPs across 11 states, including within 75 miles from both the Mexico and Canada borders. This totaled more than 10,000 hailstones collected by our teams while data was gathered on different types of hailstorms!

Just measured 66.2 mph wind gust on car mounted anemometer with this severe thunderstorm just south of Binghamton, NY (42.0497754, -75.8878667) NWS Binghamton

Approximately 8 inch diameter tree blocking the southbound on ramp to US-9 at Luisa Road in Peekskill, New York. Storm came through at approximately 5:55 PM, with estimated winds of 60 mph. #NYwx NWS New York NY 1-2” diameter branches down at Charles Point.

Fun fact for the day: (We don’t often have the opportunity in this part of the world, but) hail accumulation counts towards snow totals at climate sites. Binghamton, NY recorded a trace of snow today, July 3, 2025, due to the hailstorm that came through this afternoon.
