Thanks ASM EEB #ASMicrobe for a great set of talks in the “Origins and Consequences of Microbial Strain Diversity” symposium. My takeaway: regardless of the system, strain diversity is IMPORTANT! A couple of SNPs can have enormous implications for other microbes and for hosts.

We all know that changes in diet change the community composition of the gut, but do they also act as a selective pressure that can lead the evolution of individual microbial lineages? Come to my poster (EEB1134) today to see some preliminary data! #ASMicrobe
