On this day in 1955, the Bandung conference ended, an important moment in the making of a shared postcolonial consciousness. Amid narratives of a renewed Cold War, let's remember how nations in the Global South have since long resisted being taken in by one side or another.

Narratives about the debt crisis in Global South countries typically present it as a technical issue or the fault of “corrupt” or “incompetent” governments. This intentionally erases colonialism in creating Global South debt, & how it is utilised as a form of neo-colonialism.
