And yet today, most coaches won’t even allow 8 year olds to play with such freedom 😢

In the short term, it's strange that a coach who has Wirtz and Ekitike doesn't see combination play as a primary way of breaking low blocks. In the longer term, emphasis on physicality (speed, strength, duels, etc.) fails to account for the fast-approaching biological ceilings.

We are TEN this year ....! Wow. The time has NOT flown and the game has got so much worse in so many respects. But football is life .... as people replace connection and community with individualism, we all suffer. So come celebrate the true spirit of the game!

While making no comment on this particular case, in relation to the game more broadly, we have to start seeing the violence, the misogyny and the threatening behaviour and abuse for what it is. It's not gamesmanship. It's potentially criminal conduct.
