1000 Book Challenge # 286 ‘Dungeon Crawler Carl’ by Matt Dinniman A great fun read this one, and I’ll be passing it onto my two gamer boys. They should love it too.

1000 Book Challenge # 287 ‘101 Horror Books to Read Before You’re Murdered’ by Sadie Hartmann Looks like a very good list of recent horror. A couple I’ve read, a few more I’ve got ready to read, and now many more I’m intrigued by.

1000 Book Challenge # 288 ‘The Unworthy’ by Agustina Bazterrica A little Handmaid’s Tale, and basically written, because of the speed and the secrecy and limited resources for writing, and better than I remember Tender is the Flesh being.

1000 Album Challenge # 358 + X I’ve stopped being bothered about updating this. ‘The Orphan Epoch’ by Robin Armstrong Yet another great slice of prog that hits me exactly where I want to be hit. There’s something about the way Robin writes music that consistently hits my mark.

1000 Book Challenge # 289 ‘The Ministry of Time’ by Kaliane Bradley A good book made more interesting to me by the inclusion as a major character of a member of the crews of the ill-fated Erebus and Terror trip to find the North West Passage, of which I have read a few books.

1000 Book Challenge # 290 ‘My Best Friend’s Exorcism’ by Grady Hendrix Nostalgic read, looking back to the 80s (I was born the same time as the main characters, so I very much lived through this). I cringed at the beginning of the end, but realised that’s how it had to be.

I hadn't seen this clip of Jon Culshaw impersonating Tom Baker, with Tom Baker, until today. It's quite marvellous. It's worth watching for Tom Baker's Scouse accent alone! youtu.be/K9zWuklil8g?si…

The incredible (so very 2025) story of how Grok (X’s AI bot) was muzzled by its creator (X) for having detected the pro-Israeli bias of the BBC and other mainstream media. It seems that Grok was optimised to rely more on primary sources and mostly ignore political

Genuinely pains me… The very people who’ll be hurt most by Farage’s policies are the ones cheering him on He votes against sick pay Against ending fire&rehire He wants to privatise the NHS What will it take for you to see he’s not on your side? He gives you someone to blame,

So today, not for the first time, Reform UK have been moaning about our electricity imports from Europe suggesting that it risks our energy security and is the fault of Renewables So let’s add some facts and a huge dose of reality to this populist nonsense 🧵

Was quite looking forward to the possibility of using the new hire bikes in Edinburgh tomorrow. Looks like I’ll need to wait until the area expands a bit though…

Was in St Andrews last Saturday, with no book to read going home. So I finally picked up this in Topping & Company Booksellers of St Andrews from C F Barrington Delighted to discover I was a student when the book’s set, just starting my third year, living in Sallies’ annex. AND my grandad had a green Uno!

I'm going to attempt to pop this thread into an understandable form, but by doing so, it will lose a lot of the technical detail. Basically, there are new variants spreading quickly that don't use one of Covid's classic cell entry methods.

This is beyond embarrassing Idiotic & blatant gaslighting There is nothing “normal” about being sick so much Your immune system doesn’t need a “work out” If we have “high population immunity” to Covid why are so many million sick with it right now? Pathetic BBC News (UK)
