This morning, we joined survivors, advocates, and allies on the steps of City Hall to demand the passage of Int 1216. This bill requires Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence to create and distribute multilingual posters about potential signs of GBV and resources for survivors to beauty salons across NYC.

These posters will empower New Yorkers to recognize the signs of gender-based violence and connect survivors with life-saving support services. When communities can identify abuse and access resources, we build a safer city for everyone.

Domestic violence remains a hidden epidemic in many immigrant communities. Today, I joined colleagues, survivors, & advocates to celebrate $3 million in funding for organizations doing vital work providing culturally competent services to support victims of gender-based violence.

Trafficking survivors need legal status to rebuild their lives. Processing times for T Visas—critical protection for #traffickingsurvivors—continue to surge, hitting 23 months, an increase from 19 months in January 2025. We call on USCIS to invest resources to end these delays.
