Additionally, IER Executive Secretary/CEO Steven SABITI addressed 600+ newly admitted STEM students at RP-Kigali, highlighting the shift from traditional engineering to tech-driven solutions. He stressed that a degree is just the start—learning is lifelong. #STEM

Today, 20th August 2025, HEC held a consultative meeting with professional bodies operating in Rwanda to discuss how to formalize and strengthen collaboration by engaging them in curriculum development and the delivery of academic programs in Higher Learning Institutions.

The objective of the meeting was to provide a platform for dialogue between HEC and professional bodies on the quality of education and the relevance of academic programs in Higher Learning Institutions (HLIs).

In his opening remarks, the DG of HEC stated that HEC recognizes the vital role professional bodies play in ensuring that academic programs reflect labor market needs, quality standards, and emerging trends within their respective fields and sectors.

DG HEC stated: “We need to ensure that education delivered in HLIs aligns with evolving labor market needs, professional standards & global competitiveness, enabling Higher Learning Institutions to receive timely feedback and insights on the evolving demands of the labor market"

The workshop also aimed at collecting input and insights on how to engage and develop collaboration framework between HEC and professional bodies in Rwanda.
