Many thanks to Syrian Minister of Emergency & Disaster Response Raed Al Saleh ( رائد الصالح ) for the very constructive meeting with ICRC Director General Pierre Krähenbühl , including in relation with the need to bring answers & relief to families of persons gone missing during the conflict.

We’re deeply saddened & concerned by the security incident that resulted in the severe injury of Syrian Red Crescent volunteer Khalil Doula, as he was transporting emergency medical cases in rural #Damascus. Our thoughts are for him & his family. Humanitarian workers MUST be protected

This BBC piece entitled “'This will be the work of years': The medics identifying remains from Syria's mass graves” shows the key role of forensic medicine & of ICRC-supported Syrian Identification Centre to try to bring answers to families of #Missing. bbc.com/news/articles/…

Establishing a mechanism for the #missing persons is the first step towards providing families in #Syria with the answers they have been waiting for too long. For families of the missing, time does not heal; answers do.

📍 Aleppo 🚨 3.2 million people get water from Babiri Pumping Station, which also irrigates 65,000 hectares of land in Aleppo Governorate. The ICRC, Syrian Red Crescent & local authorities urgently repaired a key transformer in this station to keep this vital system running.
