The SSEH Chain Efficiency Rig can be used to measure the efficiency of chains, lubricants and chainrings. By limiting the number of variables, the simplistic test method of the CER provides the ideal controlled environment to measure the smallest of differences between samples.

A big thank you to Absolute Speed for providing their latest BTA System (2.0), now available for testing at SSEH! With a range of width adjustment plates and an adjustable riser, wind tunnel customers now have the opportunity to test a variety of hydration set ups on the bike.

When selecting a sample time, it is important to factor in the variation of drag measured by the rider/ equipment. For all testing, whether rider, or equipment, we would recommend a minimum of 30 seconds per record, in order to obtain a representative average value.

The SSEH Stiffness rig can be used to perform a variety of tests, whether that's components in isolation, or in situ on the frame. In this instance, a torsional load has been applied to the cranks in order to measure the deflection of the frame under load. #cyclingtech

Wind Tunnel Contraction: Air is drawn into the contraction, passing through a series of mesh screens to condition the flow and reduce turbulence. As the tunnel narrows, it accelerates the airflow to the desired test speed and helps to further reduce the turbulence #windtunnel

The wind tunnel instrumentation records data for a number of metrics including ambient air and wind conditions, yaw angle and drag force measurements. Raw data is recorded at a sample rate of 100Hz. Cycling metrics such as rider cadence, wheel power and speed are also measured.
