Smoking on-site was a common phenomenon in the plant’s construction days. That, coupled with the fire risk that some of the equipment posed, led the SRP Fire Department to put up signs like the one shown above. #SRS75

This is first ever Savannah River Plant patrol car. These were used by DuPont security to maintain the safety of the site and its employees before major barricades and other security measures could be installed during early site construction. #SRS75

Above is a busy telephone exchange working to facilitate rapid communication on the Savannah River Plant. The all-women staff took great care in connecting calls, and each stall had the emergency contacts to fire, first aid, and patrol in front of them. #SRS75
