The Kings are being outscored by 12.3 points per 100 possessions when Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan share the court: 105.8 OffRtg (29th) 118.1 DefRtg (24th) -12.3 NetRtg (29th) This trio continues to be a disastrous fit since trading De’Aaron Fox for LaVine.

This is legitimately a really cool quote. It’s just funny in the context of a 1-4 basketball team that hasn’t made the 2nd round of the playoffs since 2004.

By the way one major piece ive learned this off season in all my endless exploration of data and age curves.. Age 30 is the modern pro basketball prime. not 26/27 or any of that. 26 is the start. 31 is end or 25.5/31.5

I’ve seen enough: The Sacramento Kings are entering the first phase of an official rebuild. The franchise is for the first time going to follow the OKC/SA/DET/POR blueprint. A minimum 2 year project is here.

Is the first real, dedicated rebuild underway for the Sacramento Kings? Carmichael Dave points to a few teams the Kings should look towards as examples as they navigate what lies ahead:

Painful but necessary. Will be 100x more fun to watch young talent develop and have growing pains then watch a doomed team on the treadmill of mediocrity.

We have never, not once, had a full and complete rebuild. THAT is the delusion. If you’re happy with spinning our wheels and being satisfied with play in and first round exits, by all means. OKC, SA, DET, and even Portland have all provided a blueprint. The definition of

All these other fan bases spent the last 3 years telling Kings fans that Sabonis was trash and now they’re making fake trades for him #nooticing

To be clear here, there is no pushback from Kings owner Vivek Ranadive regarding their current plan. The point, which was said in a big-picture sense, is that Scott is making it clear - from the top on down - that they need to be very patient and prudent here.
