Cam Booser was selected to the Major League roster at 31 years old.

It’s been almost 77 years since a player made an MLB debut with the Red Sox at 31 or older (excluding players who had previously played in Japan).

RHP Tommy Fine made his debut at 32 on 4/26/47 vs. PHI.

Y'know, at this point, Mata would make sense. He's on the MLB IL and can spend up to 30 days on a rehab assignment. Excellent point.

Walter less likely given he's on the AAA IL.

With the trade for Vladimir Gutierrez (who's optioned to AAA) meaning he takes the Story spot on the 40-man, the Red Sox will need to DFA someone to open a 40-man spot for Booser. Gotta think it's Jacques. Joely doesn't make sense because then they'd have another guy coming up.

Nice to see Cam Booser get a shot w/Boston after a great start to 2024 in AAA: 6.2 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 15 K. Fly ball pitcher w/plus fastball that sits 95-97. Slider is best secondary. Also has cutter. Brings a different look than any LHP they’ve used this year due to his velo.

Made it up to Portland for tonight’s game against New Hampshire. Should be a good look at many of the top players in the system with seven prospects starting today in the SoxProspects.com Top 20.

Not sure if NESN had it but the MASN broadcast just played what McGuire said. 'F---ing hell bro! He didn't get the f---ing corner!'

Related to pitching depth, I was told last week that Naoyuki Uwasawa would likely be in Worcester by the end of the week, so presumably he'll be joining the WooSox any day now.

The Red Sox next need a 5th starter on 4/13.* That happens to be Cooper Criswell's next scheduled start - in fact, the WooSox were skipping Brian Van Belle to keep him on that schedule.

Bello today on 6 days rest, then Crawford, Whitlock, Houck on regular rest followed by…

I presume this means they're bringing up Romy Gonzalez. They really needed a RH bat, as Ian Cundall has noted. Gonzalez has earned a look and provides a bit more versatility than Dalbec. I was surprised Hamilton got the call over him, but now that makes a little more sense.

With the Red Sox roster as currently constructed, either Emmanuel Valdez or David Hamilton is going to be stuck facing left-handed pitchers consistently. That’s not something you want happening for any extended period of time.
