As the raindrops fell this morning, we honored and remembered those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. Our Pre-Prep children displayed their handmade poppies, and our pupils spoke and sang beautifully in this special service of Remembrance.

Year 2 has been learning about letter writing - the class had planned ideas on what they would like to do to improve our playground, then hand-delivered the letters to Mr Barr, who has very kindly offered to meet the children again to discuss their ideas!

We were delighted to be invited by @wellingtonUK for their annual Prep Schools Orchestra Day. The boys rehearsed and performed as part of a massed orchestra of over 80 musicians under the tutelage of Wellington College staff.

Year 3 went on a mission to explore earthquakes and volcanoes worldwide, discovering the dangers and learning about some active volcanoes. They all survived and were erupting with excitement following the workshop! 🌋

Maths and football?! What could trump that! Year 2 used Top Trump Footballer cards during their maths lesson to order, compare and discuss the different heights and mass of footballers. Gooooooaaaaaallllllll!

Year 5 had an amazing shopping fieldwork adventure yesterday to East London! 🛒 They learned practical skills by becoming bankers or teenagers, each role with unique challenges like handling budgets and purchases. 💳 This is a big step towards the future for these boys!

Whoever said kids shouldn't eat dirt? Year 3 made their own soil layers...
A whole oreo was the bedrock.
Chocolate chips were the parent rock.
Chocolate mousse was the subsoil.
Crushed oreo was the topsoil.
Green crumbled digestives was the organic matter.

Recently, a team of SJB scientists from Year 4 & 5 took part in the Bradfield Science Competition. More than 20 schools participated in biology, chemistry and physics practicals. They observed maggots, made a speaker, and tracked temperature changes. Thank you @bradfield_college

Year 3 are all rock stars! They have been learning all about metamorphic, sedimentary and igneous rocks in science. They tested the different characteristics using different materials and techniques like sandpaper and water.
