New paper using the SISAL DB: Vanessa Skiba Vanessa Skiba and Jens Fohlmeister used the SISALv2 database to study the effect of cave internal processes on stable isotope compositions and growth rates! Read the results in GCA: authors.elsevier.com/a/1gqqV3p4ZUTMD

The SISAL working group has been compiling a new version of our database (v3). First numbers:
Total # records: 902 (673 in SISALv2)
C isotopes: 619 (430 in SISALv2)
Trace elements+Sr-isotopes: 107 (NEW!)
Stay tuned for the release and paper this spring! Past Global Changes

Any other non-climatic evidence from speleothems? I've seen earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, fires in caves, mining/pollution, dating archaeological finds in the cave, ancient DNA/pollen from stals (one for SISAL group peeps)

What has SISAL group been up to? Here is a summary of our last workshop. This kickstarted a new wave of data collection to provide the community with an updated database of speleothem isotopes AND trace elements! Stay tuned for its release this winter! tinyurl.com/2nj74p76

Vanessa Skirba brings SISAL group to the show. Quantifying d18O, d13C and GR differences between contemporaneously growing stals. Adding a stalagmite isotope model gives insights into causes of those differences. (spoiler!: drip rate and pcp, CO2 exchange needed for modelling)
