Scams are a regular thing. Here is another one that is going around with the number they tell you to call.

Just notified by Utah DOT - major road closure! A mud slide has covered US-6 at MP 228 with water and large debris. Hwy 6 is completely closed at MP 187 by Thistle and MP 230 in Carbon County. I was told this closure could be 2 days or more. Plan accordingly.

This investigation is still open, but we believe Eric Ammon Cheney was working on a large compressed natural gas tank that was wrapped in fiberglass fabric when it exploded. Eric died in that explosion.

The survivor in the plane crash above Slate Canyon, near Kyhv Peak Road, is a 22 year old man living in Springville. He is currently being treated at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo. The two men killed are a 26 year old man from Hideout, UT and a 23 year old man from Santaquin.

11:16 this morning a plane crashed in rugged terrain east of Slate Canyon, near Kyhv peak Road. A 22 year old man survived the crash and is being treated at Utah Valley Hospital. A 26 year old Hideout, UT man and a 23 year old Santaquin man were killed. Cause being investigated.

The two men who died in yesterday’s crash above Slate Canyon are 26 year old Evan Backers and 23 year old Collin Niemela. I originally released that Backers lived in Hideout, UT. He actually lived in South Jordan. Their flight originated from the Spanish Fork airport.

With help from the public, Utah County Sheriff Detectives have identified the people involved in these incidents. Thank you for you help!

At about 6:20 PM a snowplow on Cory B. Wride Memorial Hwy in Eagle Mountain City hit a car on slick roads causing minor damage to that car. The snowplow went off road and rolled. There were no injuries but power is out to a half dozen or more homes and west bound traffic is closed.

On 1/16/25 Utah County Sheriff swore in ten new Corrections Deputies. Utah law allows 19 year olds to certify as Correctional Officers. One of these ten yesterday is Kaydenz Critchlow, age 19. Interestingly, her father is a Corrections Deputy in our jail. Jay has been here almost 20 years.

On 12/8/23, about 5:30 AM, a man and woman, we believe working together, entered the Maverik at Center & Geneva in Vineyard City. The woman walked out and we believe she stole a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. If you recognize either of them, please call Detective Holm at (801)851-4010.
