I've been working on a few things since my last post! I've whipped up a Baldwin Standard steam dummy, as well as a generic "California car" type streetcar, and a two-axle streetcar and trailer!

Talk about a symbolic before & after! In a rare move, Muni #1153 joined #1016 in the daylight. Together, they illustrate the stark difference between PCC-cars at the start/end of their service life. As work on #1153's renews (more news soon), we hope to preserve this contrast.

Recently we talked about 'working' on Muni #1153. So, what really are we doing? Volunteers are making strides to replace a Motor-Generator (MG) set in #1153! The MG converts voltage from the overhead into power usable in the PCC controls and more. One step towards operation!

Very cool! Nice open car too! Open cars to the Park were popular during the 1894 Fair--cable cars then. Ran on Haight St. 1883-1906-helped popularize the Park & nearby cafes, bike shops, etc. for weekend visitors, who now had a way to reach that destination.

Busy weekend around our museum! Volunteers recently tested the new motor-generator set for Muni #1153! Aside from some minor tweaks, it's on schedule to hopefully be installed next month. In addition, others made headways on replacing the weak stakes on our new Shop truck!

Despite valiant efforts to stop it, fare evasion is a trick as old as time in the Bay Area. Key System conductors were vigilant in catching those who eluded the 50¢ fare. However, that didn't stop many teens and kids from hitching a bumpy ride on the rear fender of a train!

The Market St Rwy. Company's powerhouse complex was located at the junction of Market & Valencia Sts. It drove four cables for its lines, plus a short, half speed auxiliary cable to carry northbound cars on the pull curve from Valencia into Market St.

Root was engineer for the Southern Pacific RR in 1866; Stanford directed him to observe the Clay St Hill RR, then deputed to design a cable line on California. Charles Crocker & Henry Huntington were also connected to MSCRY, so much so that locals referred to it as the "SP line".
