The November #FishOfTheMonth is the Northern #Snakehead (Channa argus) because this invasive fish would make a perfect break from turkey leftovers! Though it has a pretty snake-like pattern, this fish is a threat to all other fish and many other animals in the #ChesBay. 1/2

Originally native to China, the #snakehead was introduced to the bay in the last 30 years. Since it non-native to the bay, it has no known predators other than the occasional bird of prey. Many state agencies encourage their removal, and thankfully 😜 they make a tasty meal! 2/2

December’s #FishOfTheMonth is the Northern #Pipefish (Syngnathus fuscus). These cute fish are related to seahorses, and, just like the seahorse, the males have a brood pouch where the female lays her eggs for him to fertilize and incubate! #Fishfacts for the #Holidays 🐟 🎄
