Congratulations are in order for Anderson lab MS student Max Liebergesell! He was awarded an AAUS research grant for his proposal titled “Investigating predation on purple urchins (Strongylocentrotus purpuratus) within kelp forests & urchin barrens”. Great job Max! SDSU Research
Excited to share this paper- coming out tomorrow Marine Ecology Progress Series (MEPS)! We found that presence of the non native algae, Sargassum horneri contributed to ephemeral increases in gross community production and respiration, but did not impact net community production @kelptalk @SDSU_CMIL
This #FellowFriday, meet Abigail Ryder! Abigail is working with California Energy Commission - ⚡#CalEnergy on an offshore wind energy project, assisting with public outreach to tribes & local fishermen, public feedback for the EIPA online tool, & reviewing documents on environmental impacts. #SeaGrantFellow
The power of community-based science in action! A team of scientists and countless volunteers from 14 different organizations, including San Diego State University and @SDSU_CMIL, joined forces to document the northward migration of kelp forests on the West Coast due to warming waters.
Great presentation by Darrin Ambat #WSN2020 on how boat mooring chains at Catalina Island reduce coralline algal rhodolith cover, alter community composition, and change productivity San Diego State University @SDSU_CMIL
