SD Wildland Fire is planning a 44-acre prescribed burn in coordination with Custer State Park on Wednesday 4.24.24. If weather is not favorable it will be rescheduled. The park will remain open but expect delays near the burn area.

A RED FLAG WARNING has been issued from 1PM to 8PM CDT. Winds with gusts up to 50 mph are forecasted over north central and portions of central and northeast SD. Gusty winds and low humidity means fires can spark and grow very quickly. Please avoid any burning! #KeepSDsafe

If you come across water covering a sidewalk/roadway, do not attempt to walk through it. Standing water could be hiding a washout. 6 inches of moving water can knock you off your feet and 12 inches of moving water can carry away a small car. #keepSDsafe turn around, don’t drown!
