With release of Indian Household Consumption Expenditure Survey temptation would be to update poverty line from 2011-12 to 2022-23 using CPI & estimate poverty. This exercise is best avoided. Share of cereals in consumption basket is <5 %. Need fresh thinking on poverty line.
