Pesticides and herbicides don’t just target pests – they can pollute soil, water and air, harming beneficial insects, wildlife and even us! Limiting their use, or going natural when you can, helps keep ecosystems balanced and waterways clean. #PollutionPrevention

Using enhanced efficiency fertilizer products such as nitrification and urease inhibitors together or poly-coated urea improves nitrogen use efficiency and reduce losses to the environment. Producers could be eligible for funding. Visit www.saskwatersheds/sweap/for more info

It is difficult to protect what you don’t understand. Education is the foundation of lake stewardship. When we learn about how our actions impact water quality – from fertilizers to shoreline choices – we become part of the solution. #LakeStewardship #EducationMatters #CleanWater

Planting native trees & shrubs in riparian zones reduces erosion, sediment & nutrient runoff – boosting water quality for fish & livestock. With funding from Fisheries and Oceans, SAW completed riparian planting projects in SE Sask along the Qu’Appelle River. #RiparianRestoration

Regular pavement & concrete sends rainwater rushing into storm drains, wetlands, rivers, creeks & lakes – often carrying oil, trash & chemicals with it. Permeable pavement allows water to soak into the ground, reducing runoff & filtering pollutants before reaching waterways.

With funding provided by Fisheries and Oceans SAW conducted monitoring for various fish species in the Qu’Appelle River. We found some great species – like the Emerald Shiner and Fathead Minnow! #Saskatchewan #Conservation

The future of our lakes depends on the next generation. Teaching kids about what it takes to have healthy lakes can turn curiosity into lifelong stewardship. #LakeStewardship

Want a garden that can handle heatwaves, drought, and storms? Go native! Native plants are built for your local climate, so they stay strong when the weather gets wild. Less stress for your plants. Less work for you. More wins for the planet. #PlantNative #ClimateSmartGardening

#DYK that SAW enhances habitat for fish species at risk? With support from Fisheries and Oceans we removed a wooden barrier blocking Plains Sucker passage in Pine Cree Park & replaced it with a rock spawning riffle! Big thanks to the park board for their partnership! #SpeciesatRisk
