Recent findings from SAGA Cohort suggest a third of women report lifetime exposure to sexual harassment/violence and 8% report exposure in their current workplace. The highest prevalence of current workplace sexual harassment/violence was among women working as public figures.
Rebekka Lynch is a physician and a Ph.D. student in public health at Centre of Public Health Sciences where her focus is on the psycho-physiological sequelae of violence against women. Her results suggest that violence exposure is associated with higher cortisol levels.
One important aspect of science is sharing the knowledge gained in research. At the @ISPS conference in Perugia, Unnur Valdimarsdóttir, professor of epidemiology at the Centre of Public Health Sciences gave a talk about the human health response to major trauma and life adversities.
Hilda Björk Daníelsdóttir is a Ph.D. student in epidemiology at Centre of Public Health Sciences where one of her research projects aims to determine the genetic and environmental contributions to resilience following childhood trauma. Hilda recently presented her results at #WCPG2022 in Florence.

.Edda is an assistant professor at Centre of Public Health Sciences, University of Iceland and a clinical psychologist at Landspítali. She is a researcher for SAGA Cohort and COVIDMENT. Her main research focus is on the effects of trauma on health, particularly #PTSD and sleep problems.
Our very own Unnur Valdimarsdóttir University of Iceland gave a plenary lecture at #EPA2023 on long-term mental and physical outcomes among war migrants. The talk emphasized that this is a highly vulnerable group in need of long-term health surveillance – and how we can do better.
