Watching this Workforce Development panel. 1 city said their 50th in economic mobility, another said their airport’s 2 small, another is putting out a study, the other has a small community college. All they have in common is sales tax increase. They need Charlotte to help them.

To be clear, I am opposed to this bill, not the larger idea of a transit plan. This bill will not facilitate the development of a transit system in Charlotte that is the foundation for a regional transit system. This has turned into a political football which will make Meck

If you say the displacement of the Brooklyn Community in the name of urban renewal was a scar on the city’s history but support the displacement of Charlotte residents that will happen from the 1 cent transportation sales tax in the name of transformation; you are a hypocrite.

It’s crazy. City of Charlotte Mecklenburg County Charlotte Regional Business Alliance are really desperate. Leigh Altman said imagine waking up the day after the election & this plan not passing. You mean the plan tax payers will pay for by themselves to benefit the corporate community? I can imagine that right now.

Yet Charlotte Area Transit System , City of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County , and the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance are going to spend $1 million to convince you that we should raise our sales tax nearly 14% to get rid of bus lines and replace them with publicly funded ride-shares. Make it make sense! #ncpol #cltcc

This entire transportation tax is for the corporations to get their employees back in the office. They’ll spend $3 mil for campaign, millions more on stadium naming rights but aren’t putting any money into transportation funding. They also get 3 seats on the Transit Authority. 😡

Update. Now they going to spend $3 million. The business community is spending $3 mil to get you to build a transportation system for their employees to get to work but not contributing a dime for the construction. The banks saw how Tepper ripped us off & decided to up the ante.

The only action that was really taken here is that the Mayor Vi Lyles re-instituted “Mayor & Council topics” section of the meeting which she ended during COVID virtual meetings. Many of us cautioned her about the harmful effects of silencing the voices of city council (and therefore

Slammed full and turning people away at multiple stations. I get it though, no one could possibly know when there’s going to be such a demand for transit

Gluten Morgan 🦫 Not to be left out of the conversation is that the CATS construction budget had funds to extend all of the south line platforms to accommodate three car trains, but former “CEO” dummy face killed it and the Council went along with it for whatever reason.

Gluten Morgan 🦫 Fixing this needs to be a priority for CATS. If it can't show that it's useful on marquee days like this, then people won't use it on all of the other days either.

Do you all notice that the republican running for Charlotte City Council say crime is the most urgent issue. Dems say affordable housing. Non of them say transportation but that’s where City of Charlotte & Charlotte Regional Business Alliance want to raise your taxes 14% to pay for?
