This is an excellent analysis. It is difficult to get GLP-1 covered by insurance unless you have severe diabetes that did not respond to other meds, and you are at risk for complications. Important to always consider confounding in these GLP-1 studies.

This is a brilliant piece from my friend and colleague, L Brielmaier It would be great if people working in public administration and implementation science could help solve this problem.

I use a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) and I LOVE this thing so much. Today I was feeling bad during a Zoom meeting, and the alarm went off to tell me I was dangerously low. It is $250/3 months and insurance doesn't cover it, basically because I'm not sick enough.

LinkedIn is WILD. Salesperson: I have fancy software that I want to sell your hospital. Me: I am just an assistant professor. I don't make any purchasing decisions. You should reach out to Dr. X. Salesperson: OK, please arrange a meeting with Dr. X.

I know I've been working in informatics for a long time when I asked myself at the airport tonight, "What's the use case for putting a Spanx store at the airport?"

Has anyone ever dealt with seriously disruptive classroom behavior at the graduate school level? How common is this?#momademia

For those who work in academia, is it common to teach in a building with no security inside or outside as late as 10:00 PM? No camera, no key card access, no security walk through, open doors, no one in the building except for you and a handful of students?#momademia

You've heard of the nine circles of Hell? A patient with cancer documented the TWENTY-SIX steps necessary to get their medication (as an oncologist I know a vicious cycle when I see one)

Catholic mother of four here. This could have happened to me. I had a miscarriage that wouldn't pass. When this happens you urgently need medical intervention so you don't die. It is a common medical issue and politicians have no business getting involved.

Trump blocks NIH review. I’m on a study section to review cancer grants but received this email today: NIH has paused all communication, as directed by the new administration (e.g. cnn.com/2025/01/21/hea… ), and that apparently includes a pause for all study section meetings

In case anyone is following, UPS was ZERO help. A new set of phone numbers with people who cannot help. I have escalated this to my elected officials.
