On 11th April 2024, Rwanda Embassy was joined by Government officials, Heads of Diplomatic Missions and International organizations accredited to Zimbabwe,Friends of Rwanda and Rwandan Community to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi #Kwibuka30

Indian Students from 23 Schools across New Delhi and its surrounding areas who attended our exhibition on 10th April, raised awareness about the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, through art (paintings, music & drama). Our gratitude to them and their schools.

TODAY IN HISTORY

On 11 April 1994, the UNAMIR contingent abandoned Tutsi who had sought refuge in ETO Kicukiro, leading to a massacre of more than 2,000 Tutsi. These massacres also continued in other prefectures including Byumba, Cyangugu and Kibungo.

Thousands of people today took part in a Walk to Remember the victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi in Nyanza, Kicukiro. The walk started from IPRC stadium, former ETO Kicukiro, which was the base of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda (UNAMIR).
