In the 17th century there was a Basque-Icelandic pidgin used by whalers and the people of the Vestfirðir region of Iceland and it consisted of a mixture of Basque, Germanic and Romance words. e.g. "For mi presenta for ju biskusa eta sagarduna" (I'll give you cake and cider).
