I am excited-petrified to be presenting a paper on children's time-slip fiction at this wonderful online Leaf Journal, on Writing for Young People conference 9-10 November. You can book now to attend live or catch up after. Come join the conversation!

What a lovely thought: in a week we will be right in the thick of the first ever Leaf Journal, on Writing for Young People conference! I'm still fairly new to the world of researching children's fiction as well as writing it; cannot wait to be (virtually) amongst such excellent company.

Fantastic opportunity for a fully-funded doctorate here! - Work on the Ellen Terry and Edith Craig archives - Supervised by Sos Eltis and Rebecca Beasley (what a dream team). - Collaborative award with Faculty of English and National Trust oocdtp.web.ox.ac.uk/theatrical-com…

Well, the Leaf Journal, on Writing for Young People conference #OnWriting2023 is complete, and it was an end-to-end delight. Children's writers leading the way in showing how research, creativity, craft and industry insight can come together. Thank you so much Elen Caldecott is not here Lucy Cuthew

Yesterday I finished reading a brilliant book called 'Windrush Child' by Professor Benjamin Zephaniah Today, this terrible news, just as our government shuffles itself into yet more heartlessness. This man brought words and ideas and heart together to extraordinary effect. Thank you. Go well.

So cool to see that this project (underway when I was TORCH Oxford) is out in the world! Creative research engagement of the very best kind. This will make a change from endless games of football Top Trumps...

Can't wait to see what this year's Exclamat!on Journal writers have in store for us...

What an absolute delight to see my flash fiction appear on this gem of a longlist. Thanks so much Bath Flash Fiction and congratulations to all who entered. I'm so glad it was worth my (very) last minute club entry!

We're in the final week before the Exclamat!on Journal deadline and getting excited to read your work: don't wait for the perfect time to write your submission - WRITE NOW!

I am so happy to have made it across the perilous bridge from longlist to shortlist! I’m acutely aware of the calibre of work that will and won’t appear here - thank you so much Susmita Bhattacharya for responding to my story in miniature. Write onwards, everyone.

Curating this blog has been one of my favourite things about my second year in PhDland, not least thanks to my excellent co-editor Jo Sutherst, ARPS - PhD in progress - check out our summer retrospective.

So excited to be back at the Leaf Journal, on Writing for Young People conference this November. I’ll be talking about the troubled wonder of writing museum stories in the 21st century - and looking forward to absorbing all the other wonder on offer!

I loved reading through the titles and bios of this year's The Bridport Prize winners - so many congratulations to all! Placing 2nd in last year's flash prize was an anchor point for me - and to be shortlisted again this year! The Bridport clan is a true wonder of the writing world.
