Moussa Diaby will be a good litmus test of where we are at with Saudi. He’s got 3 options; 1) stay at an upwardly mobile club under a promising manager 2) join a club in the (currently) best League in the world, under an elite manager 3) earn millions in an irrelevant League

City attempted 2 shots in this match; the fewest ever by a Pep Guardiola team in a game within Europe’s big-five leagues, while the 22 shots from Aston Villa was the joint-most faced by a Guardiola side in the same period (tonight his 535th such game). Dominated. OptaJoe

Aston Villa's achievements are remarkable when you consider the unrelenting catalogue of injuries. But after a third ACL of the season, a hole has been created no other player can fill - no one can do what Boubacar Kamara does - so how will #AVFC adapt? theathletic.com/5270281/2024/0…

Martin O’Neil on Troy Deeney’s Ollie Watkins comments: 🗣️ “Maybe that’s why Troy only lasted 6 games as manager at Forest Green, he couldn’t tell the difference between a winger and a striker” #AVFC

Emery refuses to say it but everyone else can: Villa have played ~50 games and are down to about 11 usable players, having only really had about 15 at any one point. Even Watkins and McGinn are flagging; the squad is utterly drained.

Villa were so sure that Spurs weren’t capable of beating City that they just went ahead and threw a party without waiting for the result

So a top player in Europe is wanted by Villa and Man United. Villa are debt-free and in the Champions League. United are a billion in debt and can’t offer Champions League football. PSR though gives United a free run and ties Villa’s hands. Giving United a long-term advantage.

Got a feeling Emery goes 3 at the back Sunday partly due to Onana and Kamara injuries. Guessand and Rogers narrow in behind Watkins. We’ve already had the dress rehearsal for Pau and Mings playing together. Also the poor start could initiate this change. #avfc #villa

#Villa fans - going to my first game Sunday for a few years (live in Oz now) - where’s best to have a beer pre game. Want atmosphere and quick service! Nothing worse than waiting 20 mins for a beer. Parking advice also? Getting there early, don’t mind paying! #avfc

Market finished. We gave all what we had. Unai, Monchi, owners, staff…No holidays, no rest. I said in the May’s awards dinner- before Morgan’s disallowed UCL goal- it was going to be very challenging. But f… hell! I respect every opinion of anyone that love this football

Aston Villa have won 19 of their last 21 Games (L3 D1) Including wins over Chelsea (A), City (H), Arsenal (H), Man United (H), Tottenham (Ax2), What I’m telling you, when there’s consistency … it’s no fluke.
