I love that the medics and nurses are competing for my affection. I arrived at work yesterday and there sat 6 lbs of pretzels on my desk with a note saying "From the new favorite medic!" I laughed pretty hard. They know me too well.

My wife, Tiona, had some questions about vertigo. I explained the Epley maneuver. She listens quietly, then ever so seriously said: "So, you realign their crystals? I didn't know you were into that new age stuff." Well played, wife. Well played.

I hope everybody is having a safe trip home from #ACEP19! I'm having a fun drive... (don't worry, my wife took the picture, not me)

The storm is winning. It has taken me 6 hours to drive 160 miles. The next 120 miles to get home will have to wait until tomorrow. I threw in the towel tonight at 10:30 pm and got a hotel for the night. It has been fun #ACEP19! My hunch is that Dallas won't have snow next year.

What a difference 10 minutes can make! Obtain serial 12-lead ECGs for patients with signs and symptoms of an acute coronary syndrome. Time is therapy!

My patient punched the charge nurse in the face. While my patient got hauled off to jail, the charge nurse went right back to work with his bloody nose like it was just part of the job. Let that sink in. This is not okay. The pendulum in medicine has swung too far.

I sat down with an IV drug user and had an open, honest conversation about safe infection practices. We also talked about resources to get help. The patient later said, "Thank you for not judging me. Nobody has ever treated me like this. Thank you. " It made me a little sad...

My neighbor just rang my doorbell and handed me these and after I said thank you and closed the door I cried.
