The trouble about distant 2050 net-zero targets is that it distracts from the fact that climate change is now and action is urgent.
The sorry state of south west WA's forests is an early sign of what is at stake.

A predictable overreaction by the Jewish establishment to the Jewish Council of Australia Alternative views about the Occupation are to be rejected at every opportunity. Despite the vilification, the next generation of lawyers& academics are refusing to be silenced . theage.com.au/national/what-…

I’m very proud to support the ⁦Jewish Council of Australia⁩ . It’s testament to its terrific work that it’s stale, right wing critics in the Jewish community are fogging on about its name- not its work. smh.com.au/national/what-…

In South Korea, they've covered this protected bike lane with solar panels - cyclists are protected from the sun, isolated from traffic, and it produces clean energy.

We have so many solutions. Implement them.

Big news from China today and a tipping point - NEV penetration rate has broken 50% which means that they sell more NEVs in China than ICE cars. (Includes hybrids) (Pictured celebrating below)

I went to a financial counsellor once who looked at the rate of jobseeker and the rate of groceries bills and medical care and told me there's nothing she could do that I'm not already doing. Jobseeker is just too low to live on

This fall, I got an e-mail from a guy named JM Simpson who'd read things I'd written about homelessness. He mentioned he was a photojournalist in Olympia and that he'd been photographing the unhoused population there. He wanted to share some work with me . . . (1)

When i wrote this The Intercept column on the weaponization and warping of 'safety' for conservative & anti-Palestine aims on campus, i didn't imagine how grimly far it could go. theintercept.com/2024/03/28/saf… calling in mass of cops against protestors camping on their own campus

New research published in Nature today finds that we are on track for climate damages worth $38 trillion per year by 2050. This is a staggering figure. The damages are projected to be worth 6x more than the mitigation costs of limiting global warming to 2C.

Seems we got a bunch of extra cash just lying around. How about we make it $47bn and raise social security to above the poverty line?

why is Services Australia still telling people to call a number that no-one can get through to?
when will the govt take responsibility and suspend MOs, debt activity, and remove the hoops slowing down claim processing?
people can't live on nothing while the govt refuses to act
