The Lansdowne Hotel saw history unfold on May 29, 1899, as the Regina Golf Club adopted its constitution. A club of passion and purpose was born.

The hotel (circa 1906) was located on South Railway Street; it became the Grand Hotel in 1909.

In 1901, Captain Gilpin Brown accepted an invitation from Commissioner L. Herchmer of the North West Mounted Police to move to the Barracks.

The 9-hole course laid out by John Kelso Hunter and Captain Gilpin Brown forms the most eastern part of the course today.

In 1906 A.F. Angus reorganized the club and Regina Golf Club resumed possession of the quarter section of land on the riverside.

A dedicated golfer from Scotland, manager at Bank of Montreal, he was on the board of governors from 1902 and president from 1906 to 1920.

Early beginnings for the Regina Club: G.T. Marsh's Donation - June 1899

G.T. Marsh, agent for the Canada North-West Land Company, donated a house to the club. The house was on the SW corner of Robinson Street and 14th Avenue, with a small shed for storage.

On January 20, 1999, as part of the Clubs 100th anniversary Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II granted permission to officially use the “Royal” prefix. Our prestigious Club is honoured to have the designation from the monarch and share this title with a select few clubs in Canada.
