🔊🚨Finally! Out this week in Communications Earth & Environment our paper shows that as sea-level rise accelerates due to climate change, its multidisciplinary field of science has similarly expanded over the last 3 decades. A🧵on how this research came about and what we found. nature.com/articles/s4324…

Analysis by NASA of high-resolution climate projections concludes that, if global temperatures keep rising and reach 2C above pre-industrial levels, people worldwide could face multiple impacts of climate change simultaneously, with serious consequences. climate.nasa.gov/news/3278/nasa…
What can satellite data do for you? 🌊🛰️🌏 Our new paper offers ideas on how coastal communities could use satellite data to dynamically adapt to sea level rise. sciencedirect.com/science/articl… Ben Hamlington, Dave Rounce, Renee Collini, Marjolijn Haasnoot, Sandr Schlappovic, Center for Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation et al.
Coastal impacts of sea level rise are not limited to inundation of low lying coastal areas (i.e. permanent flooding). Sea level rise will increase the frequency of extreme sea levels and associated episodic coastal flooding and coastal erosion. @ipcc Deltares IHE Delft 💧 Institute for Water Education
Global air temperatures remaining much higher than normal for the time of year. And El Nino is only just starting. We expect to see more devastating extreme weather events, especially in Australia, South America & Asia in the coming months. Graphic: Copernicus ECMWF
