Best undergraduate presentation at SPSA. But maybe I'm biased. Libby did an amazing job and very happy to report all of her interactions with folks have her seriously considering a PhD. Scoop her up now!

Right now, the Trump admin is bragging about ICE carrying out 308 arrests on Tuesday. Do you know what the average daily number of ICE arrests was in Fiscal Year 2024 under Biden? 310.

Just to be clear, a common thing you are taught and told to do when writing your grant is to explain how your research can help to advocate. Advocacy using science is 100% a legitimate reason to request grant funding. At least it used to be.

University admin: You must be nonpartisan! Students get upset when partisanship enters the classroom. Also Uni Admin: We invited a career RNC spin-doctor to campus to tell us about politics in 2025. But we aren't going to call them a RNC strategist! it's a non partisan event!

This will be a poorly built LDM looking for keywords from a dictionary built to justify firing civil servants. 10 to 1 it will focus on people doing social work.

A major news story in Japan today: White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt made a misleading claim about Japan having 700% tariffs on foreign rice. She failed to mention Japan's minimum access system, which allows a certain amount of rice to be imported duty-free. [1/2]

The gerontocracy has real consequences. Every Democrat over the age of 70 should make this their last term and pave the way for new leaders.
