How it started. How it’s going. Seven more miles of Kiltwalk to go. Everyone here is walking because they know things can be better. Because they want to be part of making it so. 🩷

'Clubs are, in their understated way, magical settings.'

A great call for working class social clubs to get more recognition and support.

I am, though, a little biased... I'm the result of a relationship started in one.

Great blog from Nathan Yeowell of The Future Governance Forum on the plans of one of the UK's newest & most quietly impressive think tanks.

The topics can sound dry but hold the key to genuinely re-wiring the state to deliver for people let down by the status quo.

Sunder Katwala, of British Future, criticises the Conservative Party's handling of racism accusations.

This is grim reading. It's hard not to worry about what this collapse in local journalism does to the strength of democracy.

A relief to see food inflation come down today, but with more extreme weather likely in 2024 there's every chance that rising food prices become the norm again and an even bigger political issue.

On which, happy Valentine's Day from Round Our Way...

“If you’re short of money this Valentine's Day, it might be all because the lady loves Milk Tray and cocoa beans hate climate change.”

Great Daily Express piece today on Round Our Way/ECIU analysis showing climate change is upping chocolate prices.

This story is popping up more and more, up and down the country - more games at all levels are getting called off due to flooding and other weather extremes, putting smaller clubs under yet more financial pressure.

Great The Yorkshire Post piece exploring it here.
