I love #Lidar. Article for the #WSGS. Geology interpretation of the #WestSussex #CoastalPlain north of #ChichesterHarbour. 3 #Pleistocene #MarinePlatforms with the bedrock geology showing through the Quaternary cover.

Latest #SussexErratic from #WorthingBeach. Strange texture of #FeldsparQuartz infilling. What a beautiful rock, looks lovely when wet. Could be #Granodiorite.

Excellent variety of talks at the #SussexArchaeologicalSocietySymposium on Saturday. My talk was on #RomanBuildingStones in #Sussex. Where was the stone quarried? I just love drawing maps showing new ideas.

At long last a rather special rock! #Acheulian? #WorthingBeach. Probably from #SolentRiverTerrace brought in from offshore gravel for beach replenishment. Pity it has lost its point.

#Flints are amazing. A common type of flint on Worthing beach. But what is it? Only preserved on the surface. Could be concussion marks but I suspect they are fosil silicious #sponge spicules.

#puzzlePhoto. Well what is this? Sadly the impression of a pigeon strike on a window. Pigeons often fail to see the glass. No doubtlooking for a nice safe cave to roost in.

8 Sept 1914, month after becoming RN armed merchant cruiser, RMS Oceanic, ocean liner, ran aground & wrecked off Foula, Shetlands, due to navigational errors & confusion from having two Captains. Charles Lightoller, First Officer & Titanic survivor, was last man off ship. #WW1
