From today, women effectively work for free until the rest of the year due to the gender pay gap. It’s two days earlier than last year because the gap has grown for the first time since 2013. We must end the undervaluation of women’s work for good.

Just 2 and a half years ago, I put my rapist behind bars. It was a long and hard fought battle for justice. I’ve now been given a provisional date for his parole hearing - the 19th of December. How can it be that we’re even considering releasing him after such a short time?

Important use of the term 'torturer'. But Ryan Wellings is a violent man, not a 'monster'. The more we mythologise violent men, the more difficult it is to identify and address torturous violence mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/k…

🗣️For the people at the back stigmatising the food choices of those living in poverty trying to feed their children 3 meals a day: ‘A basket of healthy food costs more than double that of less healthy options, according to new analysis.’

Write every day for 1 hour. If you miss a writing day add 1 hour to the next. It’s incredible! Tomorrow I’m writing for 7 years.

This working class woman, after 40 years in the Labour Party, was disciplined & banned by them from standing for County Council. Because she spoke out about the Winter Fuel Allowance. She resigned. Today she took the seat from the Labour Group Leader ✊

Bank Holidays don’t tank the economy. In fact, they do the opposite. - An extra day supporting local businesses. - An extra day bringing workers back from the brink of burnout. Now imagine if we all had 52 of them. It’s time for a 4-day week. ⏰

MPs and much of the media have spun a false narrative about tonight’s Universal Credit vote. The PIP pause has created the myth the government has fully u-turned on its disability cuts. But £2 billion is about to be pulled from the sickest and poorest people in the country.

“We can’t afford so many autistic and ADHD people on benefits.” Translation: we can afford MPs’ expenses, banker bonuses, corporate tax breaks, corporate tax evasion — but not disabled kids having support, dignity, possibility. #Disability isn’t the drain.

For the record the Doctor in PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) comes from the Latin docere, meaning to teach. Originating in 13th century, it was used exclusively for academics who had reached the highest level of education. Only later, expanded to include medical professionals.
