Surprising just how few academics know how to anonymise their manuscripts properly! Quick tip: In Word, go to Files-> Info -> Inspect Document (Check for Issues). Make sure you have 'Document Properties and Personal Information' selected and delete any results it shows.

Have you purchased fine jewellery in the past 5 years? If so, we'd love to hear from you! One of my MSc students is doing a study into consumer perceptions of recycled gold and lab grown diamonds. The survey should only take 10 minutes to complete: lancasteruni.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0w…

I am currently working on a research project which explores the ‘socialness’ of social media and I am looking for people who would be willing to take part in an interview! I am throwing this out on here but if you happen to be an Instagram user then please do get in touch 😊

Recently submitted a paper about care work to a 'top' journal, based on interviews with 125 care workers across 5 countries. The paper has been rejected because: 'we do not believe you are answering a health policy question of global relevance in your paper.' #AcademicChatter

In 2022 I did a survey of 500+ care home websites in Lancashire UK, finding many of them in direct breach of Care Quality Commission regulations. I have published my findings on my website here: mjryder.net/care-home-webs…

It's graduation week here at Lancaster University Management School and I'm super-excited to be attending three ceremonies this week. A big 'congratulations' to everyone graduating. I hope you all have a wonderful day 🎓

Just doing some research for a book I'm writing. Found a recent paper from a prestigious 3* journal claiming ground-breaking insights into brand positioning. Yet at no point do the authors consider that a sample of just ~65 UG business students might be an issue...

And there ends a fabulous week of graduations at Lancaster University Management School. It's been so nice to see so many of our wonderful students and their families celebrate the end of 3+ years of hard work. Please do keep in touch!

Busy day for me today... Just put the finishing touches on a new book proposal; then to start sorting through abstracts for our exciting new #warhammerconference. :)

What is the point of doing extensive revisions for a journal if the reviewers who asked for said revisions refuse to then re-review it and confirm whether what they had asked for has been done? Absolute madness. What a waste of everyone's time.

Busy ol' day today. Finally pressed 'submit' on an article I've been working on for the best part of a year; plus working hard on #warhammerconference. I will just leave this here... warhammer-conference.com/category/keyno… #grimdark #deathworlders

Reviewing for journals takes *time*. Doing it properly also requires a great deal of effort and (free) intellectual labour. This morning I have written 2k words to to explain my decision and why there are issues with the paper. Thing is, I now have no energy for my own work.

The badger cull is one of the great shames of modern Britain. So much needless slaughter of beautiful creatures based on the flimsiest evidence.
