Organ cryopreservation is biotech you probably haven't heard, but it's hardly far-fetched. Colder temps = longer storage = lives saved. Hat tip proto.life for being a home for some of my wilder ideas. Check them out sometime! proto.life/2023/04/frost-…

Frank Swain has left the building's behind-the-scenes look at this is worth a read. wired.com/story/bioviva-…

Interviewed an Australian scientist who mentioned "costly" MRIs: $400-700 AUD ($250-456 USD). I knew of a hospital in Ohio charging $3,300 for an MRI 10 years ago.

TIL that there are 300-500 microplastic particles per liter of bottled water. There are fewer particles in tap water. If you get down to it, we're basically coating ourselves, and the world, with microplastics.

Heck yes! Some even learn the noise of a speargun being shot, then circle over to try to steal the fish. They might have bad vision, but they're opportunitists.

Some of you may have wondered what has been going on with the ⁦Ida B. Wells Society⁩ and why we've offered no programming in months. Well, since we announced to UNC we were leaving in December, the university held onto our money until a few weeks ago. ncnewsline.com/2023/06/12/ida…
