A year ago we formed in response to Cineworld’s decision to make many of us redundant as cinemas across the country closed. We grew from a small group of employees into a collective which covers all Cineworld and Picturehouse sites across the UK.

We will continue to call for Cineworld to... 🍿 Reinstate staff who wish to return to roles they left when their only other option was unpaid leave. 🍿 Recognise our trade union, Bectu 🍿 Pay all staff a real living wage. 🍿 Engage constructively with staff representatives.

49 years ago, two dozen Shrewsbury builders joined their union's first national strike for safe sites and fair pay. In response, bosses, police and courts trampled over the law to jail them. It's taken half a century to get justice. This morning, every conviction was quashed.

It is 1 year since the first lockdown. From locking down too late, to PPE shortages, to not lifting Sick Pay, to failing to fix Track and Trace, to not giving mental health services the funding needed, to not rewarding NHS staff with a decent pay rise, the Tories have failed us.

We’re hearing news that Cineworld staff at Glasgow Science Centre have found out their workplace will not be reopening via Twitter, leaving them unsure of whether or not they will have a job to return to. This information should have been communicated to staff directly.
