Hoy recordamos y honramos a los padres que buscamos y a aquellos que buscan a sus hijos e hijas desaparecidas. Su valentía y entrega son un recordatorio constante de la fuerza del amor que impulsa nuestro Movimiento. Seguiremos luchando para que todas y todos regresen a casa.

This would destroy relations with Mexico and displace thousands of innocent people and it doesn't stand a chance of disrupting organized crime and drug trafficking in Mexico. This is a totally irrational idea that will have permanent and extremely bloody consquences.

I don't think many folk understand the scale of these ops, or their reach. This single haul alone is worth over 100 million US dollars. Take that in.

Most likely because extortion isn't a federal crime in Mexico, whereas kidnapping/'disappearance' is. Redescribing the crime, lowering its status, avoids illuminating federal complicity and lowers the disappearance stats (they're counted instead as 'extortion').
