Sampling for benthic invertebrates at L. McLarty (bugs in the lake bed mud). The "bugs" are the reason birds fly half way round the planet to visit this wetland - now we'll have an idea of exactly what's on the menu. @AusLandcare PeelHarveyCC RickJames_PHCC Biodiversity and Conservation Science
Wonderful to share our Ramsar wetlands with interstate visitors this week. Great summary of Lake Mealup rehabilitation work provided by PHCC's Kim Wilson. @AusLandcare PeelHarveyCC RickJames_PHCC

Thank you Jesse Rowley for the help retrieving the water quality logger from Lake Clifton. A quick clean then download the data. All part of PHCC's NLP2 funded Ramsar wetlands project. @AusLandcare PeelHarveyCC RickJames_PHCC
Waterbird survey at Lake McLarty with DBCA's Adrian Pinder & Geoff Barrett with support from Bill Russell & Bob Paterson. This work will identify sites to be assessed for invertebrates later in the week. @AusLandcare PeelHarveyCC Biodiversity and Conservation Science
Lake McLarty may have just dried out for the season but the assessment work goes on! Recently assisted Mia of Enkura Consultants take sediment samples to help monitor potential acid sulfate soil issues. @AusLandcare PeelHarveyCC RickJames_PHCC
Monitoring the flow of groundwater to Lake Clifton's thrombolite community. Checking the existing sampling points is a start, with a more comprehensive program planned for the near future under PHCC's NLP2 Wetlands & People project. @AusLandcare PeelHarveyCC Biodiversity and Conservation Science

DBCA's Heidi Bucktin is hard at work shaping up a constructed wetland near Lake McLarty. This will filter runoff water before it enters the wetland. PHCC will team up to help with the re-vegetation work thanks to our NLP2 Wetlands and People Project @AusLandcare PeelHarveyCC
Locating Ground Control Points with Chris Parker & Chris Shaw from Spectrum Ecology for high resolution aerial photography. This will enable us to map the thrombolites of Lake Clifton. All part of PHCC's NLP2 Wetlands & People Project. Landcare Australia PeelHarveyCC
Great to make a start on our #Ramsar482 project revegetation work in Yalgorup NP. Full marks to the team from Natural Area for not letting the rain stop them! @AusLandcare
Revegetation work almost completed at Lake McLarty #Ramsar482 The new biodegradable tree guards installed by the Natural Area team. Plants have been well watered! @AusLandcare
Recently had the opportunity to update the PHCC Board members regarding progress on our NLP2 funded work Landcare Australia assessing the condition of the Thrombolite community at Lake Clifton. PeelHarveyCC #Ramsar482
Helped DBCA & UWA staff conduct a groundwater survey at Lake Clifton today #Ramsar482. Using a technique known as Electrical Resistivity Tomography a 2D image is generated of the ground down to about 20m. DBCA's Gavan McGrath & Josie Hyde setting up. Landcare Australia PeelHarveyCC
Shorebird count volunteers Colin Prickett & Bill Russell at Duck Pond in the Yalgorup Lakes system #Ramsar482 The data gathered enhances other survey work being done in this area @AusLandcare PeelHarveyCC
This multidisciplinary team with representatives from UWA, DBCA, DWER, PHCC & DMIRS met recently to workshop potential projects aimed at better understanding thrombolite ecology at Lake Clifton. @AusLandcare PeelHarveyCC Biodiversity and Conservation Science
