We're here this morning at the house constitutional subcommittee to hear another abortion ban DESPITE the SC Supreme Court finding that we have a conditionally protected right to privacy, including bodily autonomy.

We've sat through literally hours of John McCravy spouting the same medically inaccurate, hyperbolic, and ignorant nonsense.

McCravy and the extreme antis pushing this bill, know it to be unconstitutional but are wasting hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars doing it anyway.

The sub committee first said they were not accepting testimony but changed it at the last moment allowing public testimony.

Curiously antis have been the first people giving testimony.

We're hearing from a lot of religious organizations at this meeting about our constitutional rights. 🧐

Next is Ashley Crary Lidow (she/her) from WRENetwork who calls out the committee for saying they weren't going to accept testimony, now saying they will.

Her org represents thousands of women across SC who would be damaged by this legislation.

Next is Josh Malkin from ACLU of South Carolina who says that this meeting is troubling because of the checks and balances.

The committee who supposedly would know the most about constitutional law have NOTHING to say.

Next is Phil Ford from SC United for Justice & Equality . He talks about the hypocrisy of folks who are 'pro-birth' but do nothing to help poor and marginalized folks.

This bill is trying to control people's bodies and minds and does nothing to help improve outcomes or fix problems.
