The Cannon Park segregated cycleway is now open! 🚴🏽 🚴🏻♀️ Sustrans West Midlands funded the £1.5m route and it’s part of a longer-term plan to connect the cycle route to Coventry train station. 🚆 We spoke to Jim O'Boyle to find out what this means for the community.👇
When I became Mayor, the WMCA had £146m of unspent housing funds. It's ring-fenced and we're set lose it. I've asked Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Gov to unlock that fund and allow me to use that money to rapidly build over 2,000 social homes taking over 2,000 families out of temporary accommodation.
It was great for Richard Parker and myself to see West Midlands Combined Authority and Department for Work and Pensions Job Centre SLT come together to discuss how we can work in better collaboration to support young people into jobs, skills and apprenticeship opportunities.

The Mayor held his first meeting with West Midland Reserve Forces & Cadets Association and the Regional Employer Engagement Group (REEG). They spoke of the importance of supporting veterans, reservists and cadets by breaking down employment barriers, bridging skills gaps, and promoting Armed Forces community hiring.
I want to get people in this community into work. Youth employment is my biggest priority as Mayor. Yesterday I visited Dream Chaser Youth Club 💫 in Small Heath, Birmingham to see how they are helping people into jobs.
