I see comments that F-35 is so much more modern than Gripen. We're in the 31st year since F-35 JSF Initial Requirements Document was established. Most fan boys freaking out over Canada considering a split buy were probably not even born back then. Delayed doesn't mean "new".

I never knew how badass 1970's German F-104 Starfighters looked. West Germany bought 916 in 1961. 1 in 4 crashed. Grounded by late 1966, upgraded, then limped on until 1991. 292 crashes. 116 dead pilots. Nicknamed "The Widowmaker".🤘😎

This popped up on my feed and I thought Alex McColl might enjoy it. NORAD joint exercises would be a prime opportunity to show off the F35 to the country considering them, no? Instead it's F16s. F35s all grounded due to maintenance issues? Too expensive to justify flying them?

This is the most reasonable position on fighter jets I’ve seen from the NDP in a long time. The Gripen-E met all the needs of the RCAF in the FFCP contest. While I think it’s unlikely that we walk away from the 16 contracted F35As, buying Gripens & GlobalEyes is sensible.

The Prime Rule of the F-35 is "it is always worse than you think". Since June, DoD F-35s have been delivered without radar. Great piece by Frank Wolfe. Francis Tusa Gareth Jennings aviationtoday.com/2026/02/05/cur…
