๐ŸŽฌThat's a wrap on the first #RiceEEPS Open House! On May 3rd, over 400 children and adults came to the Grand Hall at #RiceU to learn about all the geosciences has to offer. This event would not have happened without our partners: R-STEM, HISD, NASA, & Rice Space Sciences.

April was a busy month for the #RiceEEPS department at Rice university! EEPS graduate students lifted off ๐Ÿš€ to table at the #SpaceCenterHouston - Planet Earth Celebration in late April. Children and adults, alike, had a blast ๐Ÿ›ฐ๏ธlearning about the science of #earthquakes.

At the end of the spring '25 semester, Dr. Emma Beer, physical oceanographer and lecturer, said goodbye to the #RiceEEPS department. During her time here, Dr. Beer had a large positive impact, particularly on the ug's in EEPS and #RiceENVS. ๐Ÿ“จ Sending many thanks to Dr. Beer.

Dr. Helge Gonnermann, #RiceEEPS volcanologist, could not resist flying over Kilauea, during its 26th eruption of the year. According to Gonnermann, "Since 23 December 2024 [Kilauea has had] a fire fountain episode every 10 days or so, lasting 8 hours or so."
