I've enhanced for you this strikingly immediate autochrome of a WWI French soldier. Taken about 110 years ago, this autochrome (held in the Michel F. David collection) dates from around 1915, when the horizon blue uniforms were first introduced for French troops in the Great War.

Then and now 21st October 1915 at PC120, Verdun. General Farret stands before the command post, 109 years ago 110 years later, the forest has reclaimed the land but the command post still stands
