A slightly awkward moment during the House of Lords journalism hearing yesterday. I didn't mean to look 'very annoyed'...

But: I think we can only fix local news if we are honest about how broken it is. You can't stop the fire if you refuse to admit the house is burning.

Today is International Day for Palestinian Journalists.

Four months since the start of the war in Gaza, 100 journalists – the equivalent of 7 per week – have been killed.

We #SupportPalestinianJournalists & call for this targeting to end.

On Friday we held our first Open House at Community Newsroom - a collab btw Greater Govanhill CIC & The Ferret discussing the housing emergency. In this monthly event we invite locals, folk with lived experience & those working in the sector to tell us what stories are missing.

In 2014 I set-up and ran Pavement Magazine workshops for people with experience of homelessness. We reported on things that mattered to them...and their friends, and family were dying from overdoses...Gave me a window to the power of grassroots media. Learned a lot from others since.
